SCOM veteran Graham Davies to head up Dashboard Server team
Head of Content
We are thrilled to announce that we have hired SCOM wizard Graham Davies as our new Product Manager for SquaredUp Dashboard Server!
He has been a key player in the SCOM community for the last 25 years, having contributed in a range of capacities – as an engineer within Microsoft, as a Microsoft partner, as an MVP and as an enterprise customer. Safe to say he knows SCOM inside out. Below is a short interview with Graham where we learn more about the expertise he is bringing to the table and his vision for our SCOM dashboards.
Back in 1999, I joined NetIQ as a consultant delivering their monitoring solutions, one of which was called Operations Manager – which had come into the NetIQ family following their merger with Mission Critical Software. I did not realize at the time, that I would spend the next 25 years riding the SCOM dream (and occasional nightmare).
From MOM 2000, MOM 2005 and SCOM 2007 through the System Center suite, I have been fortunate to have worked at Microsoft partners, Microsoft itself as a Senior Premier Field Engineer, and at SCOM enterprise customers such as the Bank of England. During this time, I also held MVP status in Cloud and Datacenter Management for 5 years for supporting the Technet System Center forums. You could say I've lived and breathed SCOM throughout these 25 years.
And now... I've joined SquaredUp! I am excited to be part of the team that develops the number one dashboarding solution for SCOM. The role gives me opportunity to work with our customers and understand what they need in terms of SCOM visibility, so that we can continue to deliver that vision in version 7.0 and beyond.
One of the main challenges with SCOM has been transforming the raw data that gets collected into meaningful insights. SquaredUp’s key proposition is to make it simple to sift through the noise, to surface and make sense of the data that you already have.
Here’s how I think of what SquaredUp does:
Even in 2025, SCOM is a best of breed tool for many use cases, and it is here to stay for the foreseeable future – so here at SquaredUp, we are continuing to invest in Dashboard Server and Cookdown solutions to support our customers who use SCOM. Take a look at the recent release of 6.5 and the roadmap for Dashboard Server 7.0.
On top of continuing our investments in Dashboard Server, we are prioritising a tight integration between Dashboard Server and SquaredUp Cloud, our cloud product that integrates with 70+ data sources. For those customers who have workloads on the cloud, this would provide the option of maximizing SCOM value and extending visibility beyond as they need it.
I’ve always enjoyed helping the SCOM community and I’ll be investing time in SquaredUp Community Answers over the next couple of months to ensure it is a valuable of information and support for all SCOM users.
We'll also be putting on the usual SCOMathon show in April 2025, so sign up for that if you haven't yet. I'll be doing a session analyzing the Big SCOM Survey results – so please help the community out and take two minutes to fill in the survey.
I look forward to continuing my work with the SCOM community in this new capacity.
